The TN-4D-SE is a direct-drive turntable with a low-profile design, made possible by the use of Teac's brushless DC servo motor. It features an S-shaped tonearm designed in collaboration with high-end tonearm manufacturer SAEC. The replaceable headshell comes preinstalled with the well-regarded Oyster MM cartridge from SUMIKO, allowing for an easy, straightforward setup. For more advanced playback, the interchangeable headshell, adjustable counterweight, and antiskate mechanism allow this turntable to be set up to accommodate a wide variety of headshell, cartridge, and stylus combinations. With a built-in, switchable, high-quality MM phono EQ amplifier, the TN-4D-SE can be connected to phono or line-level inputs, making it compatible with most wired sound systems.

The TN-4D-SE's tonearm from SAEC employs a knife-edge pivot-point bearing. Unlike the case for tonearms with conventional bearings, any fine vertical movements that take place in this tonearm actually help deliver a more dynamic sound with excellent resolution. The S-shaped tonearm also employs a universal headshell fitting, allowing users to quickly and easily swap cartridges/headshells, and the tonearm supports a wide range of cartridge weights (14 to 23g / 0.5 to 0.8 oz.).

Additionally, the static-balanced S-shaped tonearm is equipped with a counterweight for precise stylus-pressure adjustment and an antiskate mechanism for accurate tracking-force adjustment, allowing the cartridge to accurately play any quality vinyl disc.

The Oyster cartridge delivers a powerful soundstage, regardless of what music you pick. Built-In MM Phono Stage EQ

The TN-4D-SE incorporates an MM-type phono EQ amplifier, allowing you to connect the turntable to an audio system that lacks a phono input. A low-distortion hi-fi grade op-amp, the NJM8080 IC, is employed to boost low-level signals from the phono cartridge to line level without any loss of quality.

Reduced Vibration

The insulating feet comprise a machined-aluminum shell, topped with a rubber cushion that is fixed to the high-density MDF plinth. Thanks to excellent shock absorption characteristics of these feet, the TN-4D-SE is very resistant to acoustic feedback.
