ANALOG DEVICES ADM489ABRMZ RS422/RS485 Transceiver, 250Kbps, Open, 4.5 to 5.5V, -40°C to 85°C, MSOP-10

ADM489ABRMZ is a low-power, differential line transceiver suitable for communication on multipoint bus transmission lines. This device is intended for balanced data transmission and complies with both RS-485 and RS-422 standards of the Electronics Industries Association (EIA). It contains a single differential line driver and a single differential line receiver, making them suitable for full-duplex data transfer. It contains an additional receiver and driver enable control. Excessive power dissipation that is caused by bus contention or output shorting is prevented by a thermal shutdown circuit. This feature forces the driver output into a high impedance state if, during fault conditions, a significant temperature increase is detected in the internal driver circuitry. It is used in applications such as low-power RS-485 and RS-422 systems, DTE-DCE interface, packet switching, local area networks, data concentration, data multiplexers, and integrated services digital network (ISDN).

• Short-circuit protection, ±4kV HBM ESD protection on all pins

• Propagation delay input to output (driver) is 2000ns maximum at (VCC = 5V ±10%)
• Driver rise/fall time is 2000ns maximum at (VCC = 5V ±10%)
• Maximum data rate is 250Kbps minimum at (VCC = 5V ±10%)
• Input resistance (receiver) is 12Kohm minimum at (-7 V ? VCM ? +12V)
• Operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C
• 10-lead mini small outline [MSOP] package
