3 Legged Thing Alan 2.0 Overview
The Alan 2.0 Carbon Fiber Monopod from 3-Legged Thing is built for versatility and resilience and has been designed with a number of enhancements over its predecessor, including the beautifully contoured Tri-mount plate, new Parallel leg twist lock joints for improved grip, and internal anti-rotation Chicken Lips joint shims for improved rigidity and stability. This five-section support can be used for still photos and videography and has a load capacity of 132.2 lb. It is well suited for wildlife, sports, and action photography and can be used where tripods are not allowed or cannot easily travel. Each of the five sections have a twist-lock that opens with a 1/4 turn and has a maximum height of 58.7". The lightweight carbon fiber monopod weighs just 1.3 lb and collapses to a closed length of 17.7", which fits in most backpacks and carry-on luggage.
The reversible 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 thread can mount either a head or camera to the top. A large rubber grip with water channels disperses moisture to maintain a firm hold on the monopod. In addition, a 3/8"-16 socket located at the bottom of the monopod allows a microphone or other accessory to attach, for use as a boom pole.

3 Legged Thing Alan 2.0 Reviews
Stellar stick
I have less than a couple hours on it but its already saving my arm. I actually developed a sports injury lifting these cameras so I'm a fan of anti-gravity devices.
Terrific product.
I'm using the Alan 2.0 monopod with the foot stabilizer kit, along with the Wimberley MH-100 monogimbal head. I've had it for six weeks or so. This is by far the best monopod system I have ever used. I have shaky hands, and I really test the value of any portable system, esp. since I use it for birding. (Lots of long-distance shots.) This one feels like a lifetime purchase. The foot stabilizer kit really helps a lot (I keep the feet extended all the time), and the Wimberley head is a terrific piece of engineering. Extremely easy to use. The camera with long lens is totally secure, and the combination is very easy to hold upright and balance, and it's great to walk around with. (Kudos to Dan Carr for the recommendation.) Also, for me at 5'8 the height of the assembly is exactly viewfinder height, so fatigue is reduced way more than I expected. (The system weighs about 3.4 pounds.) A very effective solution, and given the price, a superb value.

Very nice monopod, and as always b and h is perfect. A
Fantastic monopod, fantastic tabletop tripod
I've never had a monopod before but this one seems perfect. Durable, easy to adjust. And very stable. The "stabilizer kit" is functional and sturdy but I don't use it with the monopod as intended and instead use it as a mini tripod for time lapse and panoramic photos. I decided to use the SmallRig 3034 connected to the stabilizer feet and it is all secure and fully functional holding my Olympus E-M1 Mark III.
Good value for a heavy setup
I've been using this monopod with a Sony 600mm f4 for the last few weeks and it's the right balance between weight and portability. When possible I much rather use a proper monopod and gimbal but the weight saved with a light setup is better for long treks. Overall the monopod seems sturdy enough to handle the weight and the oversized locking knobs are a plus.
