Great back up!
Needed a disk to make a time machine for new iMac running Ventura. This disk works really well. Easy to format. Lots of storage!
Meets All My Expectations
I purchased this drive for my video work. I switch it between my desktop (Win10) and laptop (Win11) using Creative Cloud. This has allowed me to work perfectly in the field as well at the studio. It is quiet and transfers seem to take hardly any time at all. So far, all my needs have been met.
Slow
Once the computer is off, everything is off from the external device as well. And it is noisy, comparing to the 5tb.
Didn't work for my needs
I wasn't really expecting this 8 TB drive to be anything more than a high-capacity backup device. And I selected it over other choices based on the offer of 4 months of Adobe's Photography plan, which made it less expensive than those other options. However, it repeatedly failed to complete a 1.5 TB transfer from my old backup drive. After starting the transfer normally, the drive would hang part way through at 100% busy with 0 Bytes/sec transfer rate. I would have rated it at 1 star except for the 4 month subscription to Adobe.

Works Fine
Easy to hook up and works and advertised. Delivery fast and on time.
Does not power on consistently
Do not buy this drive. It has never worked properly for me. I never know when it is going to power on and when it isn't. The troubleshooting on their website suggests a whole bunch of things to do if the drive won't power on and show up on your computer. I've tried them all. There is no rhyme or reason as to when the drive will work. And why should I have to try all of those things when every other external drive I own just works. Why should I have to try different outlets, different computers, different hubs. I won't buy a Seagate product again.
Great Storage Device
It's a little different from the current model I have, but it only took me a short while to get the settings the way I wanted them. It now backs up continuously without me having to do anything. Easy to set up and can be done without reading the manual.
