SH7216 series with 32bit microcontroller SH-2A CPU core offers a maximum operating frequency of 200MHz, representing a 1.25-fold improvement in performance over the 160MHz of Renesas Electronics' existing SH7211. It also includes large-capacity high-speed flash memory and RAM through the use of cutting-edge flash memory technology. Featuring an onchip power supply step-down circuit, this microcontroller is designed to achieve lower current dissipation by suppressing the increase in current dissipation associated with higher speed, and attain 3.3V single-power-supply operation while at the high operating frequency of 200MHz. In addition, this incorporates a PWM timer, 12bit AD converter, LAN controller, USB, and CAN as peripheral functions. It line-up consists of the SH7216 Group (with a floating-point unit (FPU)) and the SH7214 Group (without FPU).
