LG HU915 Reviews
HUGE 4K Image From Stylish, Modern Projector.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 3rd LG display, and my 2nd projector. My previous projector was a ceiling-mounted, DLP projector that sat 6-feet away from the screen on a ceiling mount that would hang down in the center of the room. Sadly, the location wasn't the worst part. The worst part was sound from the fans at nearly all times that would interrupt the viewing experience. In contrast, the 2022 LG HU915QB overcomes both of these issues, and a whole lot more. The HU915QB is a sleek, stylish tech miracle, subtly wrapped in high-quality, visually-pleasing dark gray fabric that allows the projector to blend in seamlessly with any furniture or home theater equipment you already own. Guests will have no idea that the small black box on the table by the wall is actually housing what may be the highest-quality triple laser projection system of 2022. As the current owners of a 2021 LG 48C1 OLED, and a 2022 LG 65G2 OLED, we are intimately familiar with the mind-blowing picture quality that LG displays are capable of producing. That said, we had no idea just how incredible the HU915QB would look projecting a 100-inch 4K image. We had ordered a new fixed-frame Ambient Light Rejecting / Ceiling Light Rejecting screen, but prolonged shipping delays lead us to begin projecting on our existing screen in our basement 'theater.' Setup and calibration was relatively easy, aided first by the four adjustable feet on the base, and next by the multi-point alignment controls via the settings menu. In 15 minutes we had the image dialed in, with minimal overshoot attributable entirely to our screen. The webOS interface is intuitive to navigate the menus, and to find your favorite built-in applications from all the major streaming services. The magic remote feels especially 'magic,' when you're pointing it at a 100-inch screen, and the cursor glides to your intended selection. The projector is whisper-quiet from 2 feet away. Whisper. Quiet. The projected image is extremely bright, color-accurate, and sharp. We love finding new image details in movies and shows we've seen many times before, but had never noticed. The built-in speakers exceeded our expectations whether watching movies, tv shows, or live sporting events. Multiple HDMI inputs allowed us to connect 2 current-gen gaming consoles. Gaming at 100-inches brings a new level of immersion, and we found there to be minimal input lag. The entire experience has been wonderful. We can't wait to see what LG thinks of next!
The Big Throw Back
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] LG once again brings the big throw back with the stunning Ultra Short Throw 0.19 inch CineBeam 4K Projector. We all have that Guy on the block that trounces on having the biggest TV on the block. But Boy no one is talking about him after this beautiful 120" Wall Projector on my block. Lets talk about this exuberating LG CineBeam projector that's making headlines on my block. The LG CineBeam 4K HU915QB projector comes beautifully packaged with the Magic Remote control which LG owners are very familiar with. I love the magic remote that brings air mouse and gesture control via Bluetooth. I mean its like holding a computer mouse but its all wireless and you wave and scroll through the projector like you would on your computer. The HU915QB Pojector is a stylish yet eloquent design that blends right with your stand albeit when you turn off the lights. Sitting discretely on the right black and grey shaded stand just makes it disappear as if it is part of the furniture. Where the Projector shines in is at its impressive output of 3000 lumens giving you very bright pictures. I would have the projector on in the day time and it would display its crisp picture. This Bad Boy comes built-in with a 40 watt two-channel sound system giving it ample amount cinematic experience . Along with this great package the projector comes with 3 HDMI ports of two which are HDMI 2.0 and the remaining as HDMI 2.1. A ethernet port, Dolby Atmos out and 2 usb connections. I'd have to say, having this projector when my friends came over for a game night just blew them away. I mean to their amazement they could not believe that a projector can just sit in front of a wall like a tv would and display a ginormous 120 inch picture. I noticed that my friends could be sitting anywhere in the living room and they could not be missing anything.
The Home Theater of My Childhood Dreams
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a child, I had always dreamed of having a movie theater in the comfort of my home. Now this dream can be a reality for most people with the availability of LG's new premium 4K UHD laser short throw projectors. These new projectors can project up to 120-inch image sitting only a few inches from the screen and as such prevents the need for traditional costly setups such as projector mounting, cable management, and calibration, as well as the potential for image obstruction if anyone passed by the projected image. Now the ultra-short throw projector (UST) can project a large image very close to the screen, allowing you to place the projector on a stand, or even on the floor, and achieve the same results as a traditional projector. Featuring a brightness of 3,000 ANSI lumens for the HU915QB (black) and 3,700 ANSI lumens for the HU915QE (beige) images can project acceptably in daylight but stand out in the dark Where the HU915QB trades in brightness it gains in having a slightly wider color gamut compared to the HU915QE. Both projectors fully support HDR and 4K resolution, images are crisp, and motion is fluid. The interface and controls are intuitive and responsive, and the projector fan noise is minimal. As an added benefit, the stylish projector cabinet also features built-in speakers to increase usability as a stand-alone product. Support for Dolby Atmos via HDMI pass-through allows these projectors to also connect to your existing home theater setup for a complete experience. Finding a good projector screen to pair with this projector is also very important, as image quality is optimized if projected onto a screen specially designed for UST projection. Look for a screen that features ambient light-rejecting material to optimize daytime viewing. An area of improvement includes a poor selection of supported apps on LG's WebOS Projector platform. There are multiple notable applications missing that are otherwise ubiquitous on LGs TV selections. LG acknowledges this limitation stating that native third-party support for the project device is not as comprehensive as their TV line. To circumvent this limitation a streaming platform that does support a wide range of streaming services can be connected via the projectors three HDMI inputs (HDRMI 2.1 x 1, HDMI 2.0b x 2). Overall, I highly recommend this projector for any enthusiast looking for premium image quality to fulfill their home theater dream.
Awesome Projector
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 3 channel laser gives off color that is intense. Every picture streamed through the projector pops on our screen. Add that to the real 4k uhd and the picture quality is unbeatable. Every detail and edge is crisp. The short throw ratio had been a really great feature - we keep the projector about 4 inches from the screen, so no worries about blocking the picture or anyone walking in front of the projector. The auto brightening feature really helps the picture quality as sunlight streams through our space at different angles. The webOS 6.0 makes acessing all our favorite streaming apps quick and easy.
A new level of entertainment for me
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I will preface this review by saying this is the first full sized projector I have ever owned. I will be able to compare to 2 LG TVs I own, the 75 QNED99UPA and 65 B1 OLED. I was excited to get my hands on the LG HU915QB ultra short throw (UST) projector. I had no way to mount a projector on the ceiling nor a screen on the wall. The solution of this projector and a floor rising screen was perfect for my needs. I suggest getting a UST specific screen. There wasn't much to take out-of-the-box. There was the 27lb projector, a remote control with batteries, power cord, simple manual book, and warranty card. It has some size to it - 26.8" x 5" x 13.7". There is a mesh front and a focus knob on top behind where it projects. On the rear there are 3 HDMI ports (1 eARC/ARC), 2 USB ports, optical audio, LAN, and power. Its 4K, up to 3000 ANSI Lumens. Projection size ranges from 90-120. For my setup, its 100. There is a speaker system built-in which sounded OK, but I never use TV speakers for sound. The projector sits right in front of the screen on a table (around 6). Setup was easy for me as its the same interface as my LG TVs. With other projectors I have had to use keystone adjustment based on the angle. The adjustment with the HU915QB is more detailed, as you have a 4, 9, or 15 point adjustment levels which allows you to fine tune the edges. The focus ring is the final touch for clarity. Its hard not to be thrilled with this projector. Part of the reason is simply due to me never having such a large screen before (75 LG in the home theater room is my largest). This projectors main use is for sports in my sports themed basement. There is not a lot of outside light (small windows) which makes for a better watching experience. And I will say, the picture quality is excellent. I tested watching several different sports as well as checked out a movie. I watched part of a movie for black level testing. As expected, not as deep as a TV, but still not too shabby. Sports, the main reason for this projector, looks great. The colors are vibrant, edges are crisp, clarity is great, all of which makes for a great watching experience. I have become very fond with LG products in the audio/video world, and this projector is no exception.
