FUJIFILM DX100 Overview
The DX100 Smartlab Frontier-S Inkjet Printer from FUJIFILM is a small, scalable photo printer ideal for processing a large quantity of prints. It uses a roll of paper up to 8" x 213' and can produce up to 360 4 x 6" prints every hour, or approximately one print every 10 seconds. These prints can be made in a standard mode with 720 x 720 dpi or in a high quality mode which offers 1440 x 720 dpi.
This printer utilizes the VIVIDIA six color ink system. This system utilizes cyan, magenta, yellow, black, sky blue, and pink dye inks for creating detailed images with quality gradations. This can easily be combined with high quality FUJIFILM Dry Photo Paper in either glossy or luster finishes.
Another main feature of the Frontier-S is the ability to scale production with multiple units. Also, it features a small footprint for convenient placement in many scenarios while also being able to produce an image up to 8 x 39". It includes a power cable, print tray, USB 2.0 cable for connecting to your computer, and a software installation CD.

FUJIFILM DX100 Reviews
Have cut my printing costs in half!
Bought printer Nov 2021: I'm a sports photographer, offering packages to schools and rec leagues and I photograph at least 200 teams a year. The great experts at recommended this printer (and a few others). I was looking to move printing in-house since I spent thousands last year with a print lab. Savings: So I was looking to find how much a 8x10 sheet would cost to see which printer was the cheapest. After much research, I was able to find a response in the Q&A section that someone mentioned that they have their 8x10 prints down to 50 cents a sheet on the Fujifilm DX100. That was cheaper than the other printers I was considering. I never print wider than 8 inches so I knew this printer would be perfect for me especially for the volume. Since purchasing in Nov. 2021, I've already paid for the cost and cost of supplies. I know I will save thousands this year in printing! The ink goes a long ways too. The bad reviews: I looked this up on Amazon too to see other reviews since it didn't have many on here. The biggest complaint was clogged nozzles. While reviews play heavily into any purchases I make, I had to consider....were those people with clogged nozzles REALLY following the maintenance instructions for the printer? I mean I read a few people had to get new printer heads/nozzles. I took the chance and ordered this. I decided I'd follow all the instructions to the nth degree. Make sure you don't just read the quick instructions as they're not as thorough and you miss key points. It tells you if you don't print every few days, nozzles will get clogged. I didn't print and guess what, nozzles got clogged. But I use a dry microfiber towel and soak up extra ink in the top (instructions suggest doing this), run a maintenance clean cycle and boom, ready to go. I also soak up extra ink after every job too. I bought white cloth gloves (like instructions suggest) to handle changing out paper rolls (I print lustre) and bought a dust, lint free towel (look in car wash section at Walmart...they're used for windshields) to wipe down the roll and paper feeder as the dust from the paper rolls are known to clog nozzles too apparently. I have the printer stored in a good place that doesn't collect much dust but I also vacuum out the vents (like instructions say) frequently. Overall: Is there a lot of maintenance? Yes but the savings are so much worth it. If you take care of this printer, it will do its job. There hasn't been clogged nozzle issue I've not been able to get cleared and as long as I keep the extra ink soaked up, I'm good to go. The print quality is so much better too. I compared the same prints from 2 print labs (where I used the color profile I was supposed to use), Nations Photo Lab and Millers Photo Lab, I was using previously to ones printed on the Frontier using Lightroom and the colors are so much warmer. Print paper is great quality too. I've never been 100% satisfied with the print labs but I can tell you I'm 100% satisfied with the Frontier. I've said so many times since I bought this that it was the smartest, most efficient purchase I've made.
Great Quality prints, Easy to Use
Purchased the DX100 on the recommendation of some photographer friends. I am impressed with the quality and speed of the printer. The equipment is easy to use. It is efficient. I am very pleased with the purchase. Pro photographer, events, sports
Had Enough
I want to warn anyone purchasing this printer. Something will go wrong. The clogged nozzles constantly, the unrecognizable maintenance cartridge, the paper feed errors. Its ridiculous. Here is where is gets interesting. There is NO such thing as a service tech working on this printer at your location. Fuju does not allow 3rd parties to work on them either. So you will be shipping this in a provided box that you pay 29.00 on your credit card for. Thats after being on hold for about an hour (Ive called at least 10 times and each times has been a minimum of an hour). So the last time I sent it in, I heard nothing for 3 weeks. I called but you can only leave a message where the printer is shipped to. Never a call back. I had to email every email address I can find online and finally got a response. Printer was here the next day. Turned it on and now instead of my clogged nozzles issue, I now have a unrecognizable maintenance cartridge error. Put a new one, still the same. Put in one from the other printer, same issue. Tried calling, phone get disconnected after 20 minutes each time. This is only one experience. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND GO WITH A MORE REPUTABLE COMPANY.
Nice prints but ...
...I have had enough of this printer. The print quality is very good however the printer gets damaged easily and it is very costly to repair. I got DX-100 at the beginning of 2015. In March 2017, after about 22000 prints the head got damaged (stripes on prints). I fixed that and we are now on September 2018 and the printer reports E-9901 having all lights blinking - this happened whilst in the middle of a print session where till that point everything was just fine! I send it to the service - error means one ink holder leaks ink - and they also say the head is again damaged (stripes)!!! It is now at about 29000 prints, so after just only 7000 prints since the last head repair, another head damage occurs again!!! Stripes in both cases couldnt get fixed with power cleans, the head got physically damaged so I can easily say this is a design flaw of the printer; I can only assume the mechanism to feed paper doesnt do its job properly which probably makes the paper scratch the head somehow and damage it. It is impossible to do this type of damage by human error, so... fingers crossed how long each head will last. For me it doesnt worth the repair cost anymore (this time total repair cost is more than 1100 euro for the head and the leak repair), so I have now a damaged printer lie down on my desk. This printer assumed to be for pro use - at least I would expect some better durability from pro products. Sad thing I loved the prints but the repair costs are outrageous and the feeling it will leave you stranded during an important work is very problematic, as it did happen in my case. Another bizarre outcome of what I gone through is the print head is guaranteed only for 3 months!!!!! I have even contacted Tokyo headquarters in case they would care to back up their product for this obviously very low duration, unfortunately it seems they think replacing the print head every 7K prints is just fine for a component that costs 700-800 euros or so. I have lost faith in Fuji after this experience and obviously Ill never ever consider any product from them again, so if you decide on this particular printer, all I can say is good luck, youll need it sooner or later.
Printer
very good! fast delivery!
I would buy this product over and over
I have been using this machine for about 2 years and i love it. In fact i have 2 of them. One for home and one for on location and i couldn't be happier with it. It produces fast beautiful prints
Break down
We have gone through 5 printers and the latest batch we only got 2000 prints before the nozzles are clogged beyond use. We are going to have to switch to dye sub prints. We used the printers almost everyday. Our first printers we got years ago lasted well over 70,000 prints and now we are trashing 2 printers with less than 2000 prints and a thid one is clogged but were able to get it working for now. Stay away from Fuji Printers.
Good workhorse!
This is the third DX100 we have purchased. This unit replaces a printer damaged by third party paper. They print very good quality and very economical. This model has been available for a few years helping testify to it's quality and performance. Printer is excellent for volume work. Held back one star as this is a 'disposable' printer, even at this price. Replacing a damaged printer is cheaper than replacing a damaged print head.
