Kirk BL-R5 Overview
The L-Bracket for Canon EOS R5 & R6 from Kirk comes equipped with sensor-centering lines and features an anti-twist design, which prevents the camera from moving within the bracket. Machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, this bracket offers a double-dovetail design on both segments of the plate, enabling the camera to be mounted in the vertical or horizontal position when shooting with an Arca-type tripod or monopod head. The plate also provides an opening on the side of the bracket for the camera's viewfinder, allowing you to tilt the viewfinder to a 40° viewing angle. The bracket maintains access to the battery door and the camera's side ports, and the unit is compatible with Kirk's Quick Disconnect System.

Kirk BL-R5 Reviews
Does not work well for what was intended
I purchased this L bracket from Kirk to use with an R5. However when trying to plug in a microphone you can not. The rubber covers on the side can not be opened due to not enough space. Kirk always worked well for me, but not this one.
No real issues so far
I have been a long time Kirk user. 4 previous cameras all had Kirk plates. No issues I can see. I own about a dozen of other lens and camera plated from various manufacturers - Arca Swiss, RRS, etc. They are all just about the same quality. Never had one fail on me in any circumstances.
A solid bracket
Using the Kirk L-bracket on a R6. The fit and finish of the bracket is top-notch. The 2 pins prevent any camera rotation while in portrait mode. There is plenty of room to use a wire remote while in portrait mode so I have no complaints about the bracket. Good quality L-brackets aren't cheap but they're made for specific camera bodies and last for many years of professional use.
Makes it easy to take vertical photos on a tripod
I bought the Kirk L-Bracket just before my last trip. It makes it so much easier going between horizontal and vertical shots with a tripod. If you've leveled the camera horizontally, it will also be level when you swap to vertical - and never any need to adjust the tripod legs. I ended up leaving the bracket on the camera for the whole trip. I recommend it for anyone who regularly uses a tripod. The only downside is that I can't attach my Peak Design camera strap to the bottom of the camera if the bracket is attached, so the camera doesn't sit against my side so easily when I'm walking around with it. Therefore, if I know that I'm not going to be using the tripod for a while, I will take off the bracket so that I can put the strap where I want it.
Kirk L-bracket meets my needs
The Kirk L-bracket is excellent. I seldom use a tripod in my photography work but when I do it goes on and off quickly. It is very sturdy, light and well made. It will accommodate the flip out screen, but that means nothing to me since I never use the flip out screen on my Canon R5. I like this bracket better than the one by RRS. The RRS bracket has a separate piece to it that can get lost and it is a bit of a hassle to mess with.
Good choice
Lightweight and well designed. Works well with the R5.
Solid Does the job
Well made newer design compared to my older Kirks but very practical. Sufficient space for rotation of screen albeit the top right corner may be slightly obscured if you place it in the slot but it doesn't affect view or review of photos. I think their stuff is always well made and long lasting.
Best L-Bracket for R5
I've always purchased Kirk L-Brackets and camera plates for my Canon cameras. They are more expensive, but they are light, well designed and manufactured and I've never had a problem.
