AD1937 is a high performance, single-chip codec that provides four analogue-to-digital converters (ADCs) with differential input and eight digital-to-analogue converters (DACs) with differential output, using the Analog Devices, Inc., patented multibit sigma delta (Σ-) architecture. An I²C® port is included, allowing a microcontroller to adjust volume and many other parameters. It operates from 3.3V digital and analogue supplies. It is designed for low EMI. This consideration is apparent in both the system and circuit design architectures. By using the on-board PLL to derive the host clock from the LR (frame) clock or from an external crystal, this device eliminates the need for a separate high frequency host clock and can also be used with a suppressed bit clock. It is used in applications such as automotive audio systems, home theatre systems, set-top boxes, digital audio effects processors etc.
- Low EMI design, qualified for automotive application
- Tolerance for 5V logic inputs, right-justified, left-justified, I²S, and TDM modes
- Differential ADC input, differential DAC output
- Log volume control with auto ramp function, I²C-controllable for flexibility
- Software-controllable clockless mute, software power-down
- Total harmonic distortion + noise is -96dB typical at (TA of 25°C)
- Dynamic range (with A-weighted filter, average) is 112dB typical at (TA of 25°C)
- Operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C
- Package style is 64-lead LQFP
